[Lesions of the peripheral nerves analyzed by classical electrodiagnosis]
Abstract:
In a sample of 102 patients 123 lesions of peripheral nerve due to injury were found. Diagnosis was not established in 27.0% cases. In course of three months after injuries 24.0% of patients were sent on electrodiagnostic procedures, the rest of 76.0% 4-14 months after peripheral nerve injury. 15.0% of patients were treated surgically in course of two months after injury and 85.0% of patients 4-16 months after injury. 32.0% were iatrogenic lesions, due to external fixator and extension, in field of distribution of n. radialis and n. fibularis. Complete lesion of peripheral nerve was found in 60.0%, and partial lesion of nerve in 37.0% cases, that is in correlation with results of surgery: 58.0% neuroraphias, 37.0% neurolysis and only 5.0% transplantation of nerves. All neuroraphias were secondary.
