Summary

Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) type influences hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection outcomes. Specific HLA types, HLA-DR2 deficiency and HLA-DR7 excess, were linked to chronic persistent HBV infection in Qatar. This suggests HLA plays a role in HBV response.
