Explanation of physiological muscle tremor
Abstract:
This paper attempts to explain physiological muscle tremor as a protective measure against an unusual limb posture. It emphasizes that most of the events in the stretch reflex loop give rise to feedback signals that are transmitted to a supraspinal tremor generator driver which integrates the signals, drives an appropriate spinal tremor generator and stops the events in the stretch reflex loop. The unusual posture and its attendant feedback are effectively abolished and this consequentially eliminates the physiological muscle tremor.

Relaxation of Skeletal Muscles
When an action potential reaches the axon terminal, it depolarizes the membrane and opens voltage-gated sodium channels. Sodium ions enter the cell, further depolarizing the presynaptic membrane. This depolarization causes voltage-gated calcium channels to open.
Motor Unit Stimulation
The latent period of contraction marks the onset of excitation-contraction coupling, when the action potential propagates across the sarcolemma, preparing the muscle fibers for contraction. As the fibers enter the contraction phase, the...

At low firing rates, motor neurons induce individual twitch contractions in muscle fibers. These twitches...
Disorders of the Skeletal Muscle
Musculoskeletal disorders
Musculoskeletal disorders involve injuries and conditions affecting the skeletal muscles and associated connective tissues. These disorders can arise from acute biomechanical stresses or chronic overuse and can occur across different age groups. Common injuries include sprains, fractures, and muscular strains, often resulting from...
