[Surface changes at the stage of fusion of the palatal ridges: light and scanning electron microscope study]

Surface modifications appear prior to the joining stage of the palatal shelves. They take the same appearance in vivo and in vitro: cell agglutination, nuclear hypertrophy, exfoliation and release of cellular material, formation of uniting bridges across the gap between the shelves.
