Chronic schizophrenia and idiopathic Parkinson's disease
1Department of Psychiatry, University of British Columbia, Vancouver.
Abstract:
A case is reported of a patient with autopsy-confirmed idiopathic Parkinson's disease in addition to chronic paranoid schizophrenia. Difficulties in the diagnosis and management of these two conditions are described. Because of the treatment implications, clinicians should be aware that idiopathic Parkinson's disease and schizophrenia can coexist.
