  • To determine the incidence of thyroid carcinoma in patients undergoing thyroidectomy for nodular goitre.
  • To analyze the types of thyroid cancer found in multinodular goitre.
  • To investigate risk factors, including sex and duration of swelling, associated with malignancy in multinodular goitre.

  • Retrospective review of 506 patients treated with thyroidectomy for histologically proven nodular goitre between 1966 and 1988.
