Medical management of pulmonary emboli
Abstract:
Pulmonary embolism is a potentially fatal condition that can be difficult to diagnose and manage. Intravenous heparin is the mainstay of therapy but thrombolytic agents hold promise for reducing long-term pulmonary problems. Medical-surgical nurses must be prepared to recognize the early symptoms of pulmonary embolism and intervene to prevent untoward outcomes.
