Background:

Posterior ocular segment injuries are a significant cause of vision loss.
Understanding injury patterns and outcomes is vital for effective treatment.

Observation:

A retrospective analysis of 113 patients with posterior ocular segment injuries hospitalized over five years.
These injuries constituted 9.3% of all ocular injuries and 0.85% of total hospitalizations.
Injury types included posterior ocular contusions (71.68%), posterior scleral ruptures (22.12%), and optic nerve injuries (6.19%).

Findings:

Functional outcomes were directly correlated with the anatomical and clinical characteristics of the lesions.
The speed of treatment initiation significantly influenced the final visual results.
