Epididymal metastasis from prostatic carcinoma

Summary

Metastasis of prostate cancer to the epididymis is uncommon. This case highlights the importance of prostate-specific antigen testing and epididymal examination during surgery for epididymal masses.

Background:

Prostatic carcinoma rarely metastasizes to the epididymis.
Distinguishing epididymal metastasis from primary epididymal tumors is crucial for accurate diagnosis and treatment.

Observation:

A rare case of prostatic carcinoma metastasis to the epididymis is presented, which mimicked an epididymal cystadenocarcinoma.
The clinical presentation and pathological findings of this rare metastasis are detailed.

Findings:

Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) testing is essential in the workup of any suspected epididymal carcinoma.
Careful examination of the epididymis during procedures like subcapsular orchidectomy is vital for detecting metastatic disease.
