Background:

Limited research exists on factors influencing sexual satisfaction in healthy older men.
Previous studies often focused narrowly on sexual performance rather than overall satisfaction.

Purpose of the Study:

To investigate psychological, marital, and behavioral predictors of sexual satisfaction in healthy married men aged 45-74.
To explore the interaction of these variables in relation to sexual satisfaction.

Main Methods:

Participants (aged 45-74) underwent psychosexual and medical evaluations.
Utilized validated questionnaires: Derogatis Sexual Functioning Inventory (DSFI), Locke-Wallace Marital Adjustment Test (L-W), Dyadic Adjustment Scale (DAS).
Employed step-wise regression analysis to identify significant predictors.

Main Results:

Perception of erectile difficulties, sexual information, affect, and marital adjustment significantly predicted sexual satisfaction.
These variables collectively explained a substantial portion of the variance in sexual satisfaction.
A differential correlation pattern was observed between predictors and satisfaction measures.

Conclusions:

Sexual satisfaction in older men is multifactorial, involving psychological and relational aspects beyond mere performance.
Interventions should consider a broader range of factors to enhance sexual enjoyment in aging men.
Further research is needed to fully elucidate the determinants of sexual satisfaction in later life.
