Summary

A new potassium hydroxide (KOH) and periodic acid-Schiff (PAS) staining method (KONCPA) effectively diagnoses Tinea unguium (TU). This sensitive and inexpensive test is superior to traditional methods for identifying fungal hyphae in nail clippings.
