Recent advances in the diagnosis and symptom management of systemic lupus erythematosus have now made the disease compatible with normal life span. However, systemic lupus erythematosus remains a multisystem disorder with no cure. Consequently, every specialty, particularly medical-surgical nursing, is challenged to provide comprehensive care to these patients.
