Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate Interleukin-1 beta (IL-1 beta) levels in amniotic fluid during mechanical cervical ripening using a Foley catheter.
  • To compare IL-1 beta levels after ripening with those during spontaneous labor.

  • Amniotic fluid samples were collected from 12 women undergoing Foley catheter cervical ripening before and after the procedure.
  • IL-1 beta levels were measured and compared to those from 23 women in spontaneous active labor.
