    Summary

    Lymphoid follicles in bone marrow aspirates are more common in older adults, especially women. Their increased incidence with plasma-cytosis suggests a response to chronic immune stimulation.

    Background:

    • Lymphoid follicles are common in autopsy tissues but less frequently reported in bone marrow aspirates.
    • Previous studies reported low incidence rates of lymphoid follicles in bone marrow aspirates (3.3-9.1%).

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To determine the incidence of lymphoid follicles in bone marrow aspirates.
    • To investigate the relationship between lymphoid follicles and patient demographics (age, sex).
    • To explore the association of lymphoid follicles with other bone marrow findings like plasma-cytosis and lipid granulomas.

    Main Methods:

    • Retrospective analysis of 1,450 consecutive bone marrow aspirates.
    • Histopathological examination to identify and quantify lymphoid follicles.
    • Correlation of lymphoid follicle presence with patient age, sex, and other bone marrow features.
