Summary

This study introduces a simple, frameless radiotherapy system for brain tumors, offering fractionated treatment with good dose distribution and minimal errors. The approach proved effective and well-tolerated in patients previously untreatable by radiosurgery.

  • Overall patient positioning errors were consistently within 2 mm.
  • Seven patients with brain tumors, previously untreatable, underwent this fractionated radiotherapy.

  • Total accumulated doses ranged from 70 to 108 Gy.
  • The treatment was well-tolerated, with no acute toxicity observed during 8-14 months follow-up.
