Summary

Selenium (Se) was found in the peritoneal fluid of all women studied for infertility. However, this trace element did not correlate with any specific infertility diagnoses in the participants.

  • Study included 30 women undergoing laparoscopy for infertility evaluation.
  • Preoperative infertility assessments were conducted.

  • Selenium was detected in all peritoneal fluid samples analyzed.
  • No specific correlation was found between Selenium presence and clinical infertility findings.

Conclusions:

  • Peritoneal fluid contains Selenium in women.
