Background:

  • Gliosarcoma is a rare brain tumor with glial and sarcomatous components.
  • Osteoid-chondral differentiation within gliosarcoma is exceptionally uncommon, with only two prior reports.
  • This study details a novel case of gliosarcoma exhibiting osteosarcomatous features.

Observation:

  • A 55-year-old male presented with a rare gliosarcoma.
  • Tumor tissues underwent immunohistochemical, electron microscopic, and histological examination.
  • The presence of glial, fibroblastic, and osteoid-chondral elements was confirmed.

Findings:

  • The sarcomatous portion was largely undifferentiated, staining positive for vimentin.
  • Areas of osteoid-chondral tissue demonstrated positivity for glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP).
