Incidence of vesicle neck contracture complicating prostatic resection in hemodialysis patients

Four hemodialysis patients with no or minimal urine output underwent transurethral resection of the prostate. Bladder neck contractures developed postoperatively in all 4 cases. A review of the literature demonstrated no emphasis on the relatively high incidence of this complication in hemodialysis patients. A discussion of the possible etiology, diagnosis and therapeutic modalities is presented.
