Background:
A pregnancy with a partial molar placenta and a normal fetus is a rare condition. Few guidelines exist for antenatal evaluation and management, particularly with respect to selecting cases for conservative management.
Case:
Cytogenetic analysis of chorionic villi showed a triploid placenta, and both amniotic fluid and blood indicated a diploid fetus. The pregnancy resulted in a normal newborn.
Conclusion:
This disorder appears to be due to confined placental mosaicism.
