Abstract:
Waste anesthetic gas exposure is of concern to those who work in anesthetizing locations. A variety of epidemiologic, laboratory, and human studies have been undertaken to study the phenomenon--most of which are plagued by logistic, methodological, and interpretive pitfalls. While the exact repercussions of exposure to anesthetic gases remain ill defined, recommendations for minimizing exposure seem rational. The issues related to exposure to trace anesthetic gases is the subject of this Journal course.
