Abstract:
In 1992, the Australian Dental Industry Association was invited to contribute articles to the Australian Orthodontic Journal with the aim of improving communication and forging closer links between the Speciality and the manufacturers and suppliers. Several authorities have expressed the view that the Speciality is "industry-driven". Many orthodontists are unaware of the service that the Industry provides and that some companies have a long history of service to dentistry in Australia; and that some have even been innovators in dental materials, carrying out expensive research and development programmes in order to provide us with a better product.
