Abstract:
Results of a clinical investigation with cast metal, electrolytically etched, resin-bonded fixed partial dentures (FPDs) are reported. These FPDs were inserted under standardized conditions. The FPDs had been in place and functioning for an average time of 21.4 months. Sixty-five patients with a total of 82 resin-bonded FPDs were followed up. There was a retentive failure in only one FPD. All patients were satisfied from both functional and esthetic points of view. The results of this study indicate that the concept of treatment with resin-bonded FPDs should be considered as an alternative to conventional treatment.
