[Use of the holmium 2.1 laser in surgical arthroscopy]

After having been used for several years in medicine, laser energy has now been applied to arthroscopic surgery. Laser Holmium 2.1 is presently one of the most advanced machine in this field. We present here our initial experience in 40 cases compared with a control group of 40 cases treated by traditional arthroscopic surgery. This approach is less traumatic, the operative time is reduced and the postoperative period is characterized by a more complete recovery of motility and a reduction in postoperative pain.
