Breast augmentation mammoplasty. Preoperative and postoperative nursing care
Abstract:
Breast augmentation mammoplasty is a vital part of reconstructive breast surgery. More than 2 million women over the past 30 years have undergone this type of surgery either for reconstruction or augmentation. There continues to be a need for further investigation of the human biological response to these devices. Safety of breast implants is currently a major factor under investigation. There are important preoperative and postoperative considerations of which the nurse should be aware. Quality preoperative and postoperative nursing care and intervention also play an important role in ensuring the best outcome for breast augmentation mammoplasty patients.
