Summary
Multicentric giant cell tumors are rare bone tumors (<1% of giant cell tumors) that often affect the hands, feet, and long bones. These tumors can present with varied activity levels and may take years to develop additional lesions.

Background:
- Giant cell tumor of bone (GCTB) is a primary bone tumor, accounting for 4-5% of cases in the US.
- Multicentric giant cell tumor (MGCT) is exceptionally rare, with fewer than 1% of GCTB patients affected and limited literature reporting.
Observation:
- This study presents 3 new cases of MGCT and updates data on 2 previously reported patients.
- A review of 24 detailed literature cases was conducted to further understand MGCT.
- MGCT exhibits distinct characteristics compared to unifocal GCTB, including predilection for hands, feet, and long bone metadiaphysis/diaphysis, and a slightly younger patient demographic.

- In a review of 29 patients, 15 developed a second lesion more than 2 years after initial presentation.
