Nonstandard and potential future therapies for asthma

This article provides a broad outline of selected areas that offer promise for novel therapy in asthma. Special attention is given to pharmacologic approaches to asthma and to the kinds of investigation that are required to establish these therapies, recognizing that their development may require approaches different from those used for the development of drugs designed to symptomatically treat asthma.
