Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the uptake of technetium-99m pertechnetate (99mTc) in malignant soft-tissue tumors.
  • To assess the utility of 99mTc scintigraphy for tumor evaluation.

Main Methods:

  • Twenty-one patients with malignant soft-tissue tumors underwent 99mTc scintigraphic imaging.
  • Tumor accumulation of 99mTc was quantitatively and qualitatively assessed.

Main Results:

  • Extensive 99mTc accumulation was observed in 19 out of 21 patients (90%).
  • Complete uptake was noted in all cases of Malignant Fibrous Histiocytoma (MFH) and liposarcoma.
  • 99mTc demonstrated high sensitivity for detecting tumor presence.

  • Technetium-99m pertechnetate (99mTc) is a valuable radiotracer for the local evaluation of malignant soft-tissue tumors.
