Abstract
Objective:
To assess whether any shift in pathologic stage, tumor resectability and need of emergency surgery has been observed in colorectal carcinoma patients over the last ten years.
Experimental Design:
Retrospective study.
Patients:
We compare 201 patients treated in our Service from January 1981 to December 1983 (Group I) with 306 patients operated from January 1991 to December 1993 (Group II).
Results:
No change has been noticed in any of the parameters analyzed.
Conclusions:
We think that the efforts in earlier detection of CCR should be increased to improve the prognosis of the disease.
