Orthodontics and temporomandibular joint internal derangement

Summary

Internal derangement of the temporomandibular joints (TMJ) is significantly more common in symptomatic patients (77%) than in asymptomatic volunteers (33%). Prior orthodontic treatment showed no link to TMJ internal derangement.
