Abstract:
An increasing number of adult patients are becoming more aware of their orthodontic needs, and more willing to pursue treatment. This article identifies some of the major differences in the orthodontic treatment of children and adults, and summarizes important aspects of adjunctive orthodontic treatment for adults that may facilitate other dental treatment. In addition, a number of clinical scenarios in which adjunctive orthodontics may enhance the provision of restorative treatment in adult patients are identified.
