Visual-perceptual disturbances in delusional misidentification

The delusional misidentification syndromes can involve physical misidentification. Delusional misidentification of the physical make-up of the self shares delusional dysmorphic symptoms with delusional disorder of the somatic type. In this article, we discuss how the study of delusional and perceptual symptoms in delusional misidentification syndromes may lead to a better understanding of the delusional dysmorphic process.
