[Diagnosis and treatment of amblyopia]

The word amblyopia means weak vision on a functional basis. The most important form is strabismic amblyopia. Its diagnosis is easy in cases of obvious unilateral strabismus; in cases with slight squint angles this may be difficult. The most important treatment is carefully controlled occlusion of the dominant eye.
