Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the early clinical experience with the interlocking detachable coil (IDC) in complex embolization procedures outside the head.
  • To assess the safety and efficacy of the IDC in pediatric patients.

  • The IDC was used when conventional embolization was deemed too risky.
  • IDCs are unfibered platinum coils (0.012 inch) deployed via a Tracker 18 catheter.
  • Available in various sizes (2-8 mm diameter, 1-30 cm length).

  • 87 IDCs used in 27 procedures for 25 pediatric patients to occlude 31 vascular lesions.
