Area of Science:

  • Neurology
  • Oncology
  • Pathology

Background:

  • Intracranial tumors can present with diverse radiological features.
  • Meningiomas are common primary tumors of the meninges.
  • Primary meningeal lymphomas are rare and typically diffuse.

Observation:

  • A 48-year-old woman presented with an intracranial tumor.
  • Radiological imaging suggested a meningioma.
  • The tumor was located in the meninges.

Findings:

  • Pathology revealed a well-differentiated, diffuse lymphocytic lymphoma.
  • No evidence of systemic lymphoma was detected.
  • The focal mass presentation is unusual for primary meningeal lymphoma.

Implications:

  • This case highlights the importance of considering lymphoma in the differential diagnosis of meningeal tumors.
  • Accurate pathological diagnosis is crucial for appropriate treatment planning.
  • Understanding rare presentations of meningeal lymphoma can improve diagnostic accuracy.
