Abstract:
A method for objective evaluation of analgetic activity of drugs is proposed. The method consists in measuring changes in skin galvanic potential response to swallowing prior to and after administration of the drug to the patients within 2-3 days after tonsillectomy. The pain in the throat is of swallowing-induced character and thus results in orientation response which can be detected via changes in skin potential. The more the intensity of the pain the greater the response. The method is used in studying the analgetic effect of benzofurocain.
