    Background:

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the impact of chronic uremia on brain serotonin turnover in a rat model.
    • To explore the relationship between plasma tryptophan levels and brain serotonin metabolism in uremic rats.

    • Chronic uremic and sham-operated pair-fed control rats were used.
    • Animals received an intraperitoneal injection of pargyline hydrochloride, a monoamine oxidase inhibitor.
