Summary

Alpha 1-antitrypsin, a protease inhibitor, was found in nine out of ten thyroid papillary carcinoma cases. This finding suggests alpha 1-antitrypsin may serve as a potential biomarker for thyroid cancer.

  • To investigate the presence and distribution of alpha 1-antitrypsin in thyroid papillary carcinoma.
  • To evaluate alpha 1-antitrypsin as a potential diagnostic marker for this cancer type.

  • Immunocytochemical and immunochemical techniques were applied to thyroid tissue sections and lymph nodes.
  • Western blot analysis was performed on tissue homogenates from neoplastic and normal thyroid tissue.
  • Immunoprinting was used to confirm the presence and molecular weight of alpha 1-antitrypsin.
