Renal primitive neuroectodermal tumor: an immunohistochemical and cytogenetic analysis

This case study presents a rare primitive neuroectodermal tumor (PNET) of the kidney in a young man. Cytogenetic analysis, specifically karyotyping, proved crucial in diagnosing this renal PNET and differentiating it from Wilms' tumor.

- The tumor cells expressed neural markers and vimentin, with negative epithelial and muscular markers.

- Karyotyping is a valuable diagnostic tool for renal PNET.
- This technique aids in distinguishing renal PNET from other small round cell tumors, including Wilms' tumor.
