Management of acute laryngeal trauma

The larynx, by nature, is rightfully a very protected organ, being the bottleneck of the airway and the protective gate to the lungs. Laryngeal trauma although rare, represents a serious threat to critical physiologic functions and too often may end in death. The multiple presentations of these injuries are extremely diverse, to the extent that restricts any generalized guidelines and results in dilemmas and controversies. This manuscript attempts to represent the authors approach to the challenging perplexities of this subject, and provide overall functional guidelines.
