A time-saving method for indirect fabrication of cast posts and cores

Cast posts obtained from wax patterns often require tedious adjustments in the mouth to seat them passively in the prepared root canals. An indirect method that uses an elastic cast for the fabrication of resin patterns has been developed. A stone cast made from a second pour of the impression of the prepared canals is then used to adjust the patterns in the dental laboratory. Posts made with the use of this indirect method routinely seat in the root canals without adjustments at the chair. The procedure is especially useful for patients who require multiple posts in the same arch.
