Abstract:
House Bill 3885 was introduced March 24, 1994, in the 88th General Assembly, State of Illinois, in an effort to amend the Illinois Public Aid Code. Currently, certified nurse practitioners (NPs) are denied authority to deliver cost-effective, safe, primary care and receive reimbursement from Medicaid. The Health Care Financing Administration recently cited Illinois as being out of compliance with federal law for failing to reimburse NPs. How this healthcare issue affects advanced practice nurses in the State of Illinois is examined in this article.
