Summary
Periodontoid synovial cysts can cause cervico-medullary compression. Surgical decompression via transoral odontoidectomy effectively treated a patient with progressive neurological decline, leading to clinical improvement.
Area of Science:
- Neurosurgery
- Neuropathology
- Spinal Surgery
Background:
- Periodontoid synovial cysts are rare lesions.
- These cysts can lead to symptomatic cervico-medullary compression.
