Background:

  • Catheter obstruction by fibrin clots is a common complication in continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD).
  • Conventional methods for clot removal are often difficult, carry risks of contamination, and require hospital visits.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the efficacy and safety of a novel infusion accelerator for recanalizing obstructed CAPD catheters.
  • To provide a less invasive and more patient-friendly alternative to existing clot removal techniques.

  • A new infusion accelerator was developed for CAPD.
  • Recanalization was attempted in six patients with complete catheter obstruction using the device, pressurizing the dialysis solution bag to 450 mm Hg.
