Abstract:
The mechanical properties of catgut (biodegradable material) have been investigated and presented in graphical manner. Two techniques (a) rings and (b) mesh have been used to study the ability to hold the fractured bones. A comparison of the mechanical properties of catgut with those of bones has been carried out. The results have shown that the mechanical properties of catgut are compatible with those of bones.
