Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To assess gut barrier function during colonoscopy by measuring plasma endotoxin levels and endotoxin-neutralizing capacity (ENC).
  • To investigate the release of inflammatory mediators, including arachidonic pathway products and interleukin-6, during colonoscopy.

  • A prospective, controlled study involving 32 patients undergoing colonoscopy.
