[The development of nursing knowledge: its contribution to nursing theory and nursing discipline]

The article focuses on Nursing knowledge and its development through an analysis of the current nursing literature. Various aspects are underlined and related to the Italian development of nursing discipline, the development of nursing in clinical practice and health care services. Some reflections are done on the development of nursing knowledge and the nursing discipline with focus on the woman's role.
