A study of dental anxiety in a Belfast population
1Dental Public Health, Queen's University, Belfast.
Abstract
Background And Design:
This study was undertaken to assess the levels and behavioural consequences of dental anxiety in a Belfast population. Fear is associated with poor attendance, leading to neglect and so Northern Ireland, with the highest caries rate in the United Kingdom, seemed a good place to examine dental anxiety and its relation to dental health status. A questionnaire was used to examine the prevalence and accompanying effects of dental anxiety. The results were statistically analysed.
