Area of Science:

  • Dental Prosthetics
  • Endodontics
  • Restorative Dentistry

Background:

  • Endodontic therapy is sometimes necessary following extensive fixed partial denture (FPD) treatment.
  • Accessing the root canal through a cast restoration can compromise the FPD's retention and weaken the abutment.
  • Potential complications include cement breakdown, caries, and washout defects, threatening the restoration's long-term success.
