Summary

Pseudomonas vasculitis is a rare condition, with this case being the first reported instance of oropharyngeal involvement. Prompt antibiotic treatment for Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection led to successful outcomes.

Background:

  • Pseudomonas vasculitis is an exceptionally rare condition.
  • Oropharyngeal involvement in Pseudomonas vasculitis has not been previously documented.

Observation:

  • A 30-year-old, HIV-positive male presented with sudden onset septicemia.
  • Necrotizing lesions with significant tissue destruction of the oropharynx were observed.

Findings:

  • Histological examination confirmed vasculitis.
  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa was isolated from peripheral blood and a palatal lesion biopsy.
  • The patient was HIV-positive.

Implications:

  • This case expands the known clinical spectrum of Pseudomonas vasculitis.
