Hypercalciuria in renal glucosuria

Background:

Primary renal glucosuria is a benign metabolic disorder affecting glucose reabsorption in the kidneys.
Idiopathic hypercalciuria is defined by excessive urinary calcium excretion in normocalcemic individuals.
Both conditions involve renal tubular dysfunction but are typically considered independently.

Observation:

This report details a unique case presenting with both primary renal glucosuria and idiopathic hypercalciuria.
The patient exhibited normal serum glucose levels and elevated urinary calcium excretion.
No other known causes for hypercalciuria were identified.

Findings:

The case demonstrates the potential for concurrent manifestation of renal glucosuria and hypercalciuria in a single patient.
This suggests possible shared or interacting pathophysiological mechanisms at the renal tubular level.
